Do you want to help make the world a better place with your expertise in digital strategy? We’re seeking a Head of Digital, based in New York, to manage and grow all areas of Open Society’s global online communications strategy.
Part of the Communications team and reporting to the Global Director of Communications, the Head of Digital will develop and execute integrated digital strategies across multiple platforms and social media accounts, all in service of advancing Open Society advocacy and issues. The role leads a digital team that includes in-house staff and external consultants, and collaborates closely with Creative, Editorial, Analytics, and Advocacy teams to amplify the Open Society mission around the world.

The Communications team plays a central role in the work of the Open Society Foundations by coordinating and strengthening the public presence of the global network and by helping to advance relevant issues. Communications works to raise Open Society’s public profile by promoting the network’s many noteworthy achievements as well as responding to attacks from opponents of open society around the world. The department employs media outreach, digital, social media, publications, and internal communications to assist dozens of Open Society foundations and programs in their communications efforts.
As Head of Digital, you will:
Develop and execute digital strategies across Open Society platforms, including websites, email, and social media accounts.
Supervise Digital team and runs day-to-day operation of team and related workstreams and processes.
Coordinate with Creative, Editorial, Analytics, and Advocacy teams to promote content across digital channels and support Open Society issue and advocacy priorities.
Work closely with Global Director of Communications, Creative Director, and Communications Officers to ensure digital strategies and campaigns are cohesive and reinforce Open Society identity
Oversee project plans, including editorial calendar and publishing schedules for websites, email, social content, and digital campaign activations.
Manage relationships and contracting with vendors and consultants; serve as digital project lead to ensure strategy alignment and timely delivery of quality content.
Identify new opportunities to expand, engage, and persuade audiences across digital touchpoints.

What we are looking for:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a digital communications role, preferably for a global organization focused on advocacy or social good, with progressively increasing management responsibility.
Experience building relationships, partnering on projects, and working closely with stakeholders across disciplines in a matrixed organizational structure.
Experience managing staff responsible for web design, content strategy, email marketing, and social media.
Experience establishing digital metrics, developing insights, and implementing digital strategies that achieve specific goals.
Superior writing and editing skills in English with additional languages preferred.
Strong organizational and agile project management skills.
Fluency in general technology and the latest digital and social media trends.
Flexibility, creativity, a ton of initiative, and ability to take on multiple evolving responsibilities effectively.
Demonstrated cultural competency, self-awareness, and experience working with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
