Suffolk Public Library is looking for an ambitious and creative individual to lead the library's marketing and communications strategy. The successful candidate will have a creative background with experience in marketing and has a take charge attitude with the ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously while working efficiently with other library and city departments.
Under limited supervision, provides coordination and supervision of all Marketing and Community Relations for the Suffolk Public Library. Coordinates the marketing and community relations efforts for the library by overseeing the creation of professional and creative print and electronic designs and productions and works closely with the City of Suffolk’s Media and Community Relations Department. Develops and implements a community focused marketing plan and ensures all library produced print and electronic publications follow the plan as well as the branding standards of the library. Responsible for the library's award winning web site as well as a variety of social media tools. Work involves coordinating the activities of the assigned area of responsibility, supervising subordinate staff, collaborating with the public, other City departments and agencies, and preparing various reports and schedules. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in planning and organizing aspects of library services. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with library patrons and the general public. Reports to the Director of Libraries.
A combination of higher education and/or experience equivalent to 7 years, 3 of which must have been in marketing and community relations, a library setting, or closely related field and 1 - 2 of which contained supervisory responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
