The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)* wants to hear from you. WFAA is recruiting for a Copyeditor to join our Marketing and Communications team. This position will help proofread and copyedit WFAA materials and will maintain the WFAA style guide.

*The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is the “doing business as” name of the merged organization comprising the University of Wisconsin Foundation ( and the Wisconsin Alumni Association ( Its legal corporate name is registered as the University of Wisconsin Foundation.

Essential Functions


  • Copyedit and proofread WFAA publications and print and digital marketing materials
  • Edit projects of various lengths for development and stewardship staff
  • Edit using Chicago Manual of Style and similar reference tools
  • Collaborate with teams in the creative endeavor


  • Opportunity to contribute to WFAA’s magazines and editorial products
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a non-exempt, full-time position reporting to the Managing Director, Alumni Communications and Associate Publisher, On Wisconsin. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and an excellent benefit program.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, journalism, or a similar field.
  • Three to five years of experience in journalism, publications, corporate communications or editing; experience in higher education advancement and demonstrated ability to work independently preferred.
  • Familiarity with Word, InDesign, Acrobat, and similar software.
  • Familiarity with Mac operating system
  • Strong written and overall communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of both Chicago Style and AP Style.
  • Strong sense of initiative.
  • An understanding of marketing and journalistic concepts.
  • Experience creating content about diverse constituencies.
  • Passion for UW-Madison.
