Reporting to the Director, Customer Relationship Management, the Marketing Database & Technology Manager is responsible for the management & maintenance of databases & tools used in the execution & analysis of Mercy’s marketing efforts. The Manager will partner with Mercy Technology Services (MTS), external vendors, and other internal partners to ensure all initiatives are well-coordinated and implemented across the ministry. The Manager will perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Mercy.


High-level Job Requirements

  • Lead the management of Mercy’s marketing database efforts, including data hygiene, data transformation, and data enhancement projects
  • Manage integration & adoption efforts for Mercy’s marketing tools & applications, including (but not limited to) CRM, PRM, Marketing Data Warehouse, Automation & Analytics tools
  • Strong understanding of Integrated Marketing goals & visions and exceptional ability to prioritize & guide work to meet those goals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing Database Management
    • Ensure data integrity so that Mercy’s marketing data is used consistently & accurately in all marketing programs & technologies
    • Data Hygiene - Ensure sufficient processes to keep Mercy’s marketing data clean & actionable
    • Audit data sources for changes & trends through reporting & analysis
  • Marketing Data Warehouse
    • Key contributor to the build & ongoing maintenance of Mercy’s marketing data warehouse
    • Liaise with Mercy Technology Services (MTS) to drive timely, appropriate database structure
    • Understand & prioritize needs of internal marketing partners & translate this into effective planning
    • Strong understanding & experience with data connections & pipelines
    • Ensure ability to expand the data warehouse as new consumer data becomes available
  • Automation & Analytics
    • Understand & enable marketing analytics & modeling goals
    • Support test/control/learn methodology
    • Lead efforts to structure marketing data for use in automation & analytic tools
  • Identify and develop processes to enable Mercy stakeholders to take advantage of the Marketing Technology stack (data management, documentation, dictionaries, dissemination, etc.)
  • Mentor & encourage technology understanding in Mercy’s marketing team
  • Possess a strong understanding of marketing automation, consumer data management, digital asset management, marketing analytics, and advertising/promotional technologies
  • Support & advocate for Marketing’s Operational Cadence across the team
  • Change Management - Embrace fluidity of the healthcare industry and changes likely to occur in coming years, acknowledging that ministry needs will require role variation for all. Our entire department will be required to accept change and to lead through it.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree - Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, Marketing, Statistics, Finance or similar area of study
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience with marketing databases and technology including required:
    • RDBMS Experience, preferably with SAP Hana or Oracle
    • Experience writing SQL processes for data transformation & analysis
    • Experience with CRM (Salesforce experience preferred) and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    • Experience enabling visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik & Lumira
    • Experience enabling large data sets for use in Modeling & Analytic projects
  • Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously
  • Health care experience preferred, but not required
