The Marketing & PR Manager is responsible for the marketing, promotion of BlackRock Center for the Arts and its programs through media and public relations; print, radio, electronic, and social media; and paid advertising. S/He works closely with the Executive Director and department heads to plan and implement strategies to meet or exceed the Center's annual earned and contributed income budget goals. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing/communications plan for BlackRock's branding as an institution and for each program area. •Write and distribute press releases, copy for marketing materials, annual reports, and collateral material. •Manage media relations, pitch and place stories in tandem with contracted press agent, and forge strong relationships with key industry leaders. •Oversee management of the website, including writing and editing of content and CMS page layout. •Develop and manage digital marketing/new media strategies that broaden the organization's reach; keep abreast of new technology and industry trends. •Oversee content and design of e-newsletter and email blasts. •Work closely with Development department to communicate with donors and support special events •Develop and manage the marketing budget and create analytical reports. •Oversee production, design, printing, and dissemination of performance brochures, education brochures, playbills, flyers, posters, and other collateral materials. •Conduct audience research and keep abreast of demographic trends in the region. •Oversee design and placement of display advertising in local print media. •Directly supervises the Marketing and Development Assistant and Marketing Manager/Graphic Designer •Develop strong working relationships with department heads to ensure effective promotion of each program and attainment of related financial goals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred in marketing, public relations, communications, arts administration •Preferred experience: •Five plus years in a mid-senior level marketing position in the performing or visual arts •Exceptional project management ability supported by strong organizational and time management skills •Experience developing and monitoring strategic marketing plans and branding initiatives •Strong background and at least five-years’ experience working with digital marketing initiatives. •Experience with ticketing, budgeting and fiscal projections •Passion for the arts and/or cultural or educational programs •Experience with Tessitura and website relaunching a plus •Experience developing marketing/communications strategies to reach diverse audiences •Strong proficiency with MS Office; superior Excel and analytical skills. •Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools, resources, and best practices •The position requires hands-on technical skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects. •Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing/communications plan and budget. •Ability to effectively manage support staff, contracted personnel, consultants and outside vendors. •Excellent oral presentation and writing skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely. •Proven use of Web 2.0 and social media, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, lnstagram, Snapchat, Google+,Flickr, YouTube, Pinterest, etc. •Demonstrated experience in writing and editing materials for print and web-based communications vehicles. •Proven ability to work independently and in a team-based environment. •Creativity and exceptional problem-solving skills. •Willingness and availability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and performances. •Passion for great customer service required •Relevant professional marketing experience in the performing art •Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
